PENSIONERS IN INDIA OBSERVE ‘PENSIONERS DAY’
In 1982, on 17th December, the Supreme Court of India delivered a landmark classic judgement defining in clear terms that government officials cannot deny statutory pension being benefitted by government pensioners. The five member constitutional bench of Supreme Court of India defined what is pension and how it is regulated as per the constitution of India. The said judgment had its longstanding impact on the pension of millions of pensioners in India.

Pakistan Railway pensioner dies while waiting for his pension;
The unrelenting financial crisis at Pakistan Railways (PR) has finally claimed a pensioner’s life while he waited overnight to receive his pension. According to the reports Mahmood Khan, who was a former railway employee, passed away while waiting for his pension. Khan, who was a resident of Lalpur area of Lahore, stood all night alone in front of the bank before he fell unconscious and was taken to the hospital in an emergency, where he expired.
