More than a thousand workers, mostly retirees, took over the area around the National Congress on Wednesday, February 19, as they have been doing for 35 years. Despite the threatening and aggressive presence of hundreds of federal police, agents of the Gendarmerie and the National Prefecture, these worthy workers marched around the so-called “house of democracy” and carried out the longest traffic light checkpoint in living memory, in front of the eyes of Patricia Bullrich’s henchmen. Neither the shields, the pepper spray, the insults and the motorcycles of these mercenaries disguised as robocops could overcome the drive and courage of these elderly people, who are not poor grandmas and grandpas but people of integrity who defend their legitimate rights and who were accompanied by other workers, also victims of the policies implemented by this government in a clear demonstration of “unity in the struggle.”
In front of them, a government of criminals that not only appeals to repression to demonstrate a false strength, but are also personal and political cowards incapable of supporting the slightest criticism from workers.
In this context, President Milei orders the spending of the pensioners’ resources to guarantee important profits to his powerful bosses, while announcing that they will not extend the pension moratorium, making nine out of ten women and seven out of ten men unable to retire. For this reason, this coming Wednesday, February 26, we must all be in Congress, to express ourselves once again in defense of our rights and to demand that the deputies extend the Pension Moratorium.
The scam, with the so-called cryptocurrencies carried out by Milei, in his capacity as president of the Nation, is one more demonstration of the impunity with which this puppet character of the dominant economic power operates.
