Press Release 1603 "Wednesday for Retirees" CABA, December 27, 2022
ON DECEMBER 21, IN THE 1602 WEDNESDAY OF RETIRED PEOPLE,
WE TOAST WITH "BREAD AND WATER"
On December 21, in front of the National Congress, we held our historic "TOAST WITH BREAD AND WATER" -complying with one of the resolutions of our Ordinary Congress No. 51- with the desire to start the year 2023, with the firm will to continue the fight until realizing the autonomy and dignity necessary to live this stage of our lives. The day began with the word of referents and militants of the organizations present (retirees, trade unions, unions, social), in all the interventions the need to consolidate and expand unity was revealed, with common points of struggle that we're developing. An analysis was also made of the deepening of the serious situation that the majority of retirees and pensioners are going through.
The minimum retirement pension in December is $48,612.- (even with the sum of the bonus and additional ones for the months of the quarter) and it is only enough for a third part of the Basic Basket of an elderly person, which is prepared by the Ombudsman's Office of the Third Age of the CABA, which 85% of all retirees and pensioners do not have access to. Situation aggravated by the crisis in health care both in the INSSJYP-PAMI- and in certain Obras Sociales.
Retirement and pension are not a subsidy, they are the recovery of a salary or deferred income throughout the active life. An emergency increase in the minimum credit and in all scales is urgent and on this basis apply mobility, so that no retirement is less than the basic basket of an older adult.
We demand precise definitions for the recovery of the progressive underfunding of the Social Security System, putting an end to unregistered work, unemployment, the reduction and cancellation of state and employer contributions and a thorough investigation of the use of the Sustainability Guarantee Fund and pension funds.
The current pension moratorium law expires at the end of December. The Legislative Branch has not resolved to date, among other important issues, the promulgation of a new law and failure to do so immediately affects 447,000 women and 295,000 men, that is, 9 out of 10 women and 7 out of 10 men that, fulfilling the established requirements, they will only be able to access the PUAM (Universal Senior Adult Pension) which is equal to 80% of the Minimum Retirement Credit, for men and women aged 65 or over and without the right to a death pension .
THE FIGHT CONTINUES IN 2023 FACING AND DEFEATING THE GOVERNMENT AGREEMENTS WITH THE IMF FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE ILLEGITIMATE, ILLEGAL, FRAUDULENT AND "HATEFUL" EXTERNAL DEBT, WITHOUT HAVING MADE A DEEP INVESTIGATION.
NO CONDITIONS IN THE QUARTERLY CONTROLS OF THE INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND, REPRESENTATIVE OF THE LARGE ECONOMIC GROUPS OF THE CAPITALIST SYSTEM, TO APPLY THE LABOR AND PENSION ADJUSTMENTS LEADING TO THE TOTAL OR PARTIAL PRIVATIZATION (THE DISAMIOUS AFJP) THAT TODAY FACE, WITH INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY, THE IMPORTANT MOBILIZATIONS AND STRUGGLES OF WORKERS, RETIRED PEOPLE AND PEOPLE OF OUR AMERICA AND THE WORLD.
FOR A TRUE PUBLIC, DISTRIBUTION, ASSISTED, INTERGENERATIONAL PENSION SYSTEM!!
