SOLIDARITY WITH RMT (GB).
Don't Mourn; Organize!
WFTU TUI for Pensioners and Retirees will take the urging of Bob Crow's RMT magazine and re double our efforts to do what Comrade Crow's life stood for. Bob Crow's RMT union sent a strong delegate to our recently held inaugural meeting of a world-wide organization of trade union pensioners and retirees. We thank him again for this act of international solidarity.
Bob Crow's commitment to independent political action that is committed to militantly fighting for the rights of all working class people where they work and where they live. The commitment did not stop there. He often said, the electoral arena is fixed against the working class.
His vision of a Socialist world for his own RMT union's rank and file; the workers of Britain and around the world were not just words. RMT members have fought militantly, recently for the subway ticket agents by bringing London to a halt. He won that fight because he understood the balance of forces. The RMT participation in class oriented trade union meetings around the world has inspired others. And, as Bob often said these activities gave more strength back to the RMT by the everyday discussion and policy debates that would take place around the world.
Bob Crow understood that a worker's contribution to his or her class doesn't end when retirement comes. On the contrary, the deep understandings of the political scene and the work's own industrial experience must be galvanized to beat back the barbaric demands of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and all of the bankers and financiers to cutback and eliminate hard earned pensions and health care benefits.
