Last Wednesday, we retirees generated an important political event that was deliberately ignored by most of the media. Numerous organizations of retired workers, including the Coordinating Board of Retired and Pensioner Organizations, gathered at the Plaza del Congreso to demand the extension of the pension moratorium, among other points. On this occasion we were accompanied by various sectors of workers, social, cultural and political organizations in a united attitude worthy of being highlighted. Such a scenario forced the Government to order the deployment of hundreds of members of the Federal Police, Gendarmerie and Prefecture -supported by the City Police- with the objective of preventing the massive demonstration and even repressing it. Comrades who were beaten, gassed and detained show how the government of Javier Milei responds to the legitimate demands of the working class. This increase in the government's repressive activity is intended to discourage the struggles that active and retired workers are carrying out throughout the country, in the face of the implementation of its adjustment policies. Its objective is social discipline. It is important to highlight that these submissive employees of national and transnational economic power attack the working people through various measures, such as increasing the rates of public services (energy and transportation) and deregulating and liberalizing the economy, as well as eliminating labor rights in order to guarantee huge profits for their clients, which causes greater unemployment, misery and hunger. In this context, Milei is the main protagonist of a monumental financial scam that is unanimously rejected and censured by the entire world. The Argentine government is headed by a declared enemy of the working class who is also an international swindler.
The premise of the Coordinating Board of Retired and Pensioner Organizations is to continue fighting for our demands within the framework of the struggles of the entire working class. For this reason, we welcome the support of all those who decide to add their legitimate claims to those of the retirees, in the belief that the struggle in Unity is the way to confront and defeat the hunger policies of this government.
