RUSSIA
The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its support and solidarity with the workers in the Russian Federation, who are opposing and struggling against the plans of the Government, who intends to raise the retirement age for women and men workers.
Until today, the law of the Soviet Union of 1928 still applies, according to which the maximum retirement age is 55 for women and 60 for men. The Soviet Union was the first state in the world to vote and implement such a law.
At that time, all over the capitalist world that law of the socialist power gave impetus to the workers worldwide to demand such pro-workers regulations in their countries as well. At the same time, pension at the age of 55 for women and 60 for men, confirmed the superiority of socialism over the capitalist barbarity.
Today the Government of the Russian Federation attempts to abolish this pro-workers law, among others. The workers are reacting.
The WFTU stands by the side of the workers and we join our voice with that of all the ordinary people. We support the fair demands of the working class of Russia, for whom the family of WFTU has feelings of estimation, respect and comradeship.
