NATIONAL COORDINATING BOARD OF RETIRED AND PENSIONED ORGANIZATIONS OF THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC - press release 1655 December 12, 2023
THE CRISIS MUST BE PAID BY THE EXPLOITERS OF THE PEOPLE
Milei took office and with him the attempt at a "conservative restoration" returns to Argentina whose paradigm, in his own words, is the oligarchic Argentina of the 19th century. That is, a society where a tiny minority exploited the vast majority of the people, causing poverty, disease and deep inequalities of all kinds. To guarantee such an ideology for those who dared to change reality, there was only repression. It is no coincidence that for the new president, Argentine decline has begun with the implementation of universal, mandatory and secret voting. For these characters, bourgeois democracy, even in its smallest and most imperfect expressions, is an obstacle. That is why they propose a government that will make perpetual adjustment a distinctive sign and always at the expense of working people. Large national and international capital will be able to have total guarantees in their desire to maximize their profits. They are already doing it, and according to the president they will continue, with price markups generating more inflation, falling wages, recession, and unemployment. To this, we must add the release of electricity, gas and other public services rates. For the government and its allies it is “a honesty of the prices of the economy.” Salaries and pensions, well thank you, they do not require honesty!! In his speech on December 10, he described a gloomy panorama full of inaccuracies if not lies, concluding that the adjustment was inexorable. He failed to clarify who will be in charge of supporting the adjustment even though it is obvious. From what we have seen and heard, it will not fall on the owners of economic power. As happened more than a hundred years ago, in the face of popular resistance, they will resort to state and parastatal repression, as advanced by some journalists and pro-government politicians. Faced with this situation, our commitment must be to continue the fight for our legitimate rights, integrated with the rights of the active and retired working class, and for the urgent and necessary resistance to the implementation of these policies, the Unity of action of the various trade unions, unions, social organizations, human rights organizations, political parties and all those sectors thatmatch in that ONLY THE PEOPLE WILL SAVE THE PEOPLE!!
